| If the Shoe Fits… I read about a group of folks having a dinner meeting. A lady mentioned to a friend that her new shoes were bothering her, the friend said, “Mine, too.” They decided to remove them since no one would know because they were sitting up to the table. When one of them unexpectedly heard her name called from the stage, she wiggled her feet around trying to get her shoes on. People were applauding, waiting for her to go to the front. Finally, she got into a pair of shoes, stood up and took a couple of steps. As soon as she did, she knew something was wrong. Looking down she saw two different shoes, different heel heights, and different colors. I have admired folks who have such a great ability to give fluent talks, or those who are talented to be great Sunday School teachers. They go deep in the Word, find a special truth that challenges the students to do something great that week for the Lord. There are singers who not only have a melodious voice, but seem to always get the message of the song across to their audiences. It takes teaching, practice, and experience. These folks have paid a price that some of us are not willing to pay. I heard it men-tioned that a minister, who is successful, needs to spend six hours on his knees in advance of his message time. Wearing two different shoes is like us trying to do something for which we are not gifted. We are all called, but it so important that we are contented to do what God assigns us. If the shoe fits, wear it! Viola |
