Tickets Please…

Albert Einstein, the great physicist (honored by Time Magazine as the Man of the Century), was traveling from Princeton by train. The conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of each passenger. When he came to Einstein, the physicist reached in his vest pocket, but couldn’t find his ticket. After checking his other pockets, he looked in his briefcase – no ticket could be found.

The conductor, recognizing who he was said, “Dr. Einstein, I know who you are, we all know who you are. I’m sure you bought a ticket, don’t worry about it.” Einstein nodded appreciatively. As the conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets and was ready to move to the next car, he looked back to find the physicist on his hands and knees looking under the seat for the ticket.

The conductor rushed back and insisted, “Dr. Einstein, don’t worry, I know who you are, you don’t need the ticket, I’m sure you bought one.”

The Doctor looked at him and said, “Young man, I too know who I am. What I don’t know is where I’m going.”

It’s important in these troubled days to know who we are and where we’re going. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is our “ticket” to Heaven.
