What You Wear …

Did you ever see someone in an outfit that made you raise an eyebrow … colors that clashed, plaids and stripes that made you squint your eyes?

Just as we go to the closet and decide what to ‘put on’ each morning, we make choices throughout the day what we ‘wear’ in our hearts, attitudes, and thoughts. As a Christian, our ultimate goal is to be living proof of the goodness of God.

When a person looks at us they should see Jesus, love, peace, kindness, gentleness … all the fruit of the reborn spirit.

Right before you say something that’s unkind, have you ever heard the Holy Spirit say, “Is that really what you want to ‘wear’? Does that attitude look good on a child of God? Those words would clash with the love of God; isn’t there something else you want to put on?”

The encouraging thing is … just like the person with plaids and stripes; when we see something in our lives that doesn’t look good, we can change! After all, we choose what we think about, the words we speak, and the attitudes we carry. Maybe it’s time to go back to your ‘wardrobe’ and choose to put on His character!
